Barbara Billingsley, the actress who played my idol June Cleaver, died today at age 94. People say she embraced being called America’s Mom and always had a nice thing to say. Since I make fun of June Cleaver in my act, fawning that I want to be her because repression would be a vacation, I always wanted to meet her. Instead, I bow my scruffy head to a class act, in real life and television history.
well said. Another great person gone.
Jacki,
Your words are beautiful. I could not have said it better.
Being that I was a “latch key child” [remember that term?] I dreamed of having a mom like her at home, and I thank you for this post.
