Let’s Flush & Gush in 2024

Well, hello there. Here’s to hoping you had an amazing end to 2023. I’m so ready to move on in so many ways. One thing is, I should write blogs on a regular basis. Honestly, the end of 2023 made me blog clogged. I just wasn’t coming up with anything interesting to tell you. Thanks to Allison DuBois’ podcast, “The Dead Life,” I’ve got something for you today. Her guest, Margaret Jamison, a teacher at Allison’s school, talked about setting intentions. What I love is she wraps intentions with baggage. They’re more like two separate columns:

1-Flush the junk
Write down everything that’s not serving you. So that’s the Goodwill donation box, except the thoughts, feelings and junk you carry. Then, tear up the paper and put it in a bowl of salt water. Watch the words dissolve. Then, flush!

2-Gush the intentions
Her guidance for intention is to write your intentions as if you have already made those happen. “This year, I turned my closet into a yoga and meditation space.” I did, and it’s awesome except for arm stretching because my hands hit the ceiling. Or, “This year, I started a business that’s true to who I am.” Even financial intentions apply, like, “This year, I paid off consumer debt.”

Just like everything, leading with gratitude is a mood- and game-changer. (Speaking of, thank you, Amanda, for the lovely photo.) Wishing you all the best of everything this year!
